I have a folding bed. It has been in regular use for ever such a long time and now it is due to retire. Unless I can find a home for it it will have to be thrown out.

Any ideas?

Living a life free of the attachment to stuff is not easy. I've been finding that while I am able to transfer my security to money or job or whatever then the stuff I have devalues but when the fear of loss and losing out kicks in the desire to hold on to as much as possible returns.

Overcoming this is going to be a significant part of my journey to freedom.

A friend and I have taken on an allotment. This is a new venture for 2011 and I hope it will lead to a healthier lifestyle for me.

If you are in the Thanet Area and have clear plastic bottles (like 2 or 3 ltr Coke bottles) then I'd love to have them when you are done with them. They will be reused on the allotment.

Also any other allotment stuff please pass it in my/our direction. Any tools, advice, seeds, timber or words of support equally welcome.

I am not sure if I am bringing this blog back online or just changing the focus a bit (or a lot).

I know that I really want to change the pace of my life and the amount of stuff in it. There is huge cross over with the way I want to bring back Green Moral to talk about allotment growing.

But for a little while at least I am going to be here talking about things and trying to give stuff away but not so exclusively as before. I am also going to talk about stuff, ownership, taking care of things and being given stuff too.

Might also mention spending money on things and might even ask for stuff - who knows?

Lightweight living is an article about a chance encounter with an ultra light weight hiker.

They make a very important point - one can live in relative comfort with 14 pounds of pack through burning desert and freezing mountain passes. Why then do we need so much stuff in our homes?

We don't actually need any of it. I think that my possestions posses me rather than I posses them.

Take for example my collection of Terry Pratchett books. They are all great books and they take up over a shelf in space. I love the guys work but how often do I even think about all those books?

Are they just gathering dust? (yes)

Could someone else enjoy them? (yes)

Is any joy coming from these books right now? (doubtful)

It is time for me to redouble my efforts and see just how little I actually need to live.

I have just noticed that I have a three volume paperback edition of Lord of the Rings sitting on my shelf gathering dust. The books are in good condition and look (from down here) like new.

I'm not entirely sure how I ended up owning them but I don't remember buying them.

Long story cut short - they are giving no enjoyment sat there and need a new home. So collect them from me or send me a little something towards P 'n' P and I'll post them all to you.
